Frequently Asked Questions About Jessica, Ward 1 Councillor

Hello, I’m Jessica, your Ward 1 Councillor. I’m committed to listening to residents, representing our community’s priorities, and working toward practical solutions that make Ward 1 a welcoming, safe, and thriving place to live. This section answers common questions about my role, local initiatives, and how you can get involved or share your concerns. If you do not find the information you need, please feel welcome to get in touch.

What Does a Ward 1 Councillor Do?

Jessica is one of two councillors elected to represent Ward 1 residents on municipal council. She brings local concerns, priorities, and feedback forward; participates in council meetings and committee discussions; and votes on municipal decisions that affect the community. This can include decisions about local infrastructure, roads, parks, planning and development, public services, budgets, and municipal policies. Jessica also helps residents navigate municipal issues, connects them with the appropriate Town staff or services, and advocates for practical solutions that reflect the needs of Ward 1.

How Can I Contact Jessica?

Residents can contact Jessica through the official municipal contact channels for questions, feedback, or concerns about neighbourhood matters. Please use the municipality’s website, main office phone line, or public service email to ensure your message is directed to the appropriate person or department.

What Issues Can I Ask About?

You can ask about a wide range of local issues and services. Common topics include road safety, parks, public transit, development and planning, municipal services, community programs, and local events. Whether you have a question, concern, or suggestion, we can help direct you to relevant information and resources.

Can Jessica Help with Provincial or Federal Matters?

Jessica can help residents identify the appropriate contacts and resources, but a municipal councillor does not have authority over provincial or federal programs. Matters such as health care, education, immigration, driver’s licences, social assistance programs, and many housing or employment supports are generally handled by the Province of Ontario. Federal matters, including passports, Canada Pension Plan benefits, Employment Insurance, citizenship, and federal immigration programs, are handled by the Government of Canada. If you are unsure which level of government is responsible for your concern, Jessica’s office may be able to provide general guidance and direct you to the relevant provincial MPP, federal MP, ministry, or service office.
